Caterpillars and butterflies

Ok...so I know this could be a record for me....the most posts (2) in the same week but I wanted to put a quick post up about the boys' new fascination with caterpillars. Apparently both Austin's and Jacob's preschool classes have been discussing the metamorphosis of the caterpillar into a butterfly. Both boys talk about it constantly. Then every afternoon after preschool, they spend at least an hour playing outside looking for caterpillars. Apparently their preschools have been teaching them all the specific parts of metamorphosis. At dinner a couple of nights ago, Jacob was talking about the cocoon and how the butterfly comes out. Then yesterday, Austin said "Jacob keeps trying to smoosh the caterpillars. I don't want him to kill them. I want to be able to see the CHRYSALIS." I thought he was just making up a word but then I later found out it is a part of the metamorphosis. Good thing I have my child to educate me :)

A Visit from Nana

We have had a busy past couple of weeks but I thought I would take a chance to put in a quick post. We have managed to be almost completely settled into our new house. I think there may be some boxes that never get unpacked but then again, the random boxes in the playroom will serve as an obstacle course for the kids and improve their gross motor skills :).
John's mom came to visit last week which was fun. The kids loved getting to see their Nana and of course Nana had to spoil them with gifts. The kids' new favorite toy is this thing called the Smart Cycle. It is basically a stationary bike (for those of you too young to know what that is....it was what came before all the workout equipment of today :) ) that goes to a gaming system. They would spend hours on it every day if we
let them. We went to the Bicentennial Gardens and did some furniture shopping in High Point while Nana was here. Austin also had his first soccer game this past Saturday. I am pretty sure he had more fans there than anyone else (9 fans to be exact). I have to admit that he looked pretty cute in his soccer uniform although I am not completely sure he understands the exact rules of the game. He seemed more excited to run up and down the field than he did to actually try and get the ball. Unfortunately for his team, that seemed to be the sentiment of most the kids on his team ;).
